About

Hello! My name is Danielle Marie. I’m 27 years old and live in Minneapolis San Francisco San Diego. I’m currently seeking freedom from my corporate job/going through an identity shift/attempting to change my life course. My formal education is in computer/systems engineering and I’ve been working as an engineer for the past 5 years. I’ve spent the last year or so doing some soul searching in order to decide what kind of life I really want to create for myself (seeing as the corporate lifestyle has left me unfulfilled). I’ve decided that I want to be able to work at home, as an entrepreneur, run my own business, and start getting back into my true passions (which largely fall into the field of graphic design). This is my journey. I’m not there yet. I’m seeking freedom, but I’m still strategizing my escape plan/saving up money. Until then, I created Free at Heart blog.

The idea of Free at Heart is exactly as it sounds. It represents freedom from the corporate world, financial freedom, freedom to work without a boss, and freedom to live out the best life as the best version of yourself. Whew, that’s a lot! But seriously, until I can truly be free from a corporate job, I am living by the motto that I’m free at heart. This blog is a place where you can pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee, enjoy art, quotes, inspiration, and become refueled. The main theme here is freedom, but I will also be incorporating posts on photography and my daily whereabouts. Hope you enjoy!

PS A little more about my personal life: I’m a read-a-holic. I pretend to be a coffee connoisseur. I love good old-fashioned movie nights and can’t resist getting popcorn when I’m at the theater. I’m a bit of a homebody and I’m ok with that. I love to make blueberry pancakes on a Sunday morning. I spend entirely too much time on the computer. I’m most productive between 9am-11am in the morning (yes, I have studied this!). I grew up in the midwest and desperately miss the change of seasons. I also know the Thriller dance.
